Produced by local artisan women in rural Bangladesh, this set of three Fair Trade wild bird nesters provides roosting opportunities in Autumn and Winter and nesting in Spring for a variety of small bird species. Locate the nest within some natural leaf cover like a bush, tree or ivy. Ideally the nest should face between North and South East.
Handmade to a quality finish using natural Hogla grass and recycled saris, this set comes in a branded JANECARR gift bag. Hogla is a type of grass that abundantly grows in Bangladesh and is used as a material for baskets, cushions and placemats. Hogla grass regularly causes problems near the shores as it can overgrow whole harbours, rivers and ponds. This material is considered a weed and the local villagers remove it. Every handmade nester is unique in colour and shape.
Purchasing this World Fair Trade product helps both wildlife and people. In addition to giving a bird a nest, you’ll be supporting the artisan workers in southern Bangladesh who make them by funding the survival of many women and their families from rural communities. Each nester comes with a twine handle and inbuilt hook.
