Style Notes

A collaboration between D'Orsay and Marrakech-based lifestyle brand LRNCE, founded by Laurence Leenaert in 2015. From its base in the Sidi Ghanem district of Marrakech, LRNCE creates singular pieces made from local materials that radiate the essence of Moroccan craftsmanship, while building community and creating strong links with the artisans and culture of this adopted country.

Natural hues combined with vivid tones, naïve poetry undeniably nourished by art - whose lines some associate with the strokes of Picasso or Miro - geometric patterns or evocative landscapes, LRNCE pieces take us on a vibrant journey.

Created by perfumer Vincent Ricord, 14:30 Palais de la Bahia (Bahia Palace) echoes Laurence’s city of residence, Marrakech; "Your invitation to escape on an adventure was unusually intriguing. After passing through the spice market of the medina, with its scents of cinnamon, cloves, cumin and cardamom, we came to this magnificent palace. Peeping at each other through the latticework of the mashrabiyas, we saw each other as if for the first time, and the attraction was magnetic.

Beside a fountain, an offering of mingled rose and sandalwood invited us to linger and reflect. Closing our eyes, we recaptured the erstwhile splendour of this Moorish abode whose name means beautiful."

The jar is handcrafted in the LRNCE workshops in Morocco before being filled with scented wax in a workshop in the South of France.

These creations are made by hand, and each one is unique.

    Conscious Craftsmanship

The jar is handcrafted in the LRNCE workshops in Morocco.

Then it's time to place the pure cotton wick and pour the scented wax. This stage is carried out in a century-old wax-making workshop in France, a repository of the traditions and values of wax-makers, and of production techniques that are - in some cases - no longer used today: the great tradition of hand-crafting. This heritage goes back to the oldest techniques of the Maîtres Ciriers originating from the Ciergerie des Prémontrés, handed down in 1904 by the monks of Frigolet Abbey to the great-grandfather of this current Maitre Cirier located in Provence, not far from Grasse.

Each wax, mineral or vegetable, is of superior quality, rigorously selected and carefully chosen according to the fragrance to be diffused. This unique blend is specially developed for each fragrance, so that it can express itself with precision and balance.
