Yunomi or (tea cup) is a Japanese tea cup with no handle and usually in tall cylindrical form. It is designed in this way so that when tea drinkers hold it, they will know whether or not the tea is too hot.
Hornbeam ash glaze contains high amounts of calcium and low amounts of alumina and silica. However, the silica and alumina in the clay body fuse with a thin layer of ash glaze to make a glaze that's incredibly hard and robust.
