Taken from a nineteenth-century chromolithograph from the collection of John Derian, the artist and designer whose work with printed images of the past transports the viewer to another time and place. Planet Earth is the work of a fervent mapmaker's imagination, a globe etched with precise latitude and longitude lines, yet floating in a dreamy blue void of clouds and stars.
