These Yunomi (tea cups) with Hakeme glaze have been made by hand in Troy Town pottery based in Hackney, London, a workshop of Anglo-Japanese pottery using traditional Japanese techniques and glazes. By purchasing these items, you are contributing to Troy Town's ongoing support for artist residences.

Yunomi are Japanese tea cups with no handle and usually in tall cylindrical form. It is designed in this way so that when tea drinkers hold it, they will know whether or not the tea is too hot.

Hakeme is a Japanese technique where white slip is applied to clay in brushstrokes with a hake brush, leaving visible brushstrokes. These cups are finished with cobalt and iron detail.
