GUEST EDITOR
ES DEVLIN CBE
ES DEVLIN’s creative practice spans sculpture, performance, music, drawing, painting, language and light. She views an audience as a temporary society in which new perspectives can be rehearsed. Her monumental installations invite public participation at major institutions including Tate Modern, V&A, Serpentine and Imperial War Museum. Her kinetic stage sculptures in theatres, opera houses, arena and stadia have redefined the art of performance design with the world’s most celebrated musicians. She is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theatre at Oxford University, and the subject of a landmark monograph, a Netflix documentary and a Smithsonian retrospective. While installing her latest project 'Library Of Us' on Faena Beach Miami, we talked to Es about her practice, inspirations and must-haves.
