Style Notes

The ART DÉCO 1930 teapot is a specially reissued museum piece inspired by Le Corbusier.

This teapot has been used in Mariage Frères tea salons since the beginning and is the best adapted for careful steeping and for enjoying tea. The black enamel teapot has a built-in filter and is wrapped in a polished steel globe that retains heat for about an hour and can also be removed. The matching milk jug and sugar bowl also feature steel details - a trio of decorative and functional objects which will make a perfect gift.

The teapot comes with 100g of Marco Polo loose tea, a wonderfully fruity & flowery fragrant black tea that will take you to distant lands. Fragrances evoking Chinese and Tibetan flowers lend it a uniquely velvety taste. Its extraordinary bouquet makes Marco Polo the most legendary of flavoured teas. The tea is presented in a black metal canister and gift box.

Conscious Craftsmanship

The first Mariage Frères Maison de Thé opened in Paris in 1854, with the Mariage family's connection to the tea trade dating back to 1660. As the leading French importer of tea, Mariage Frères supplied the best houses, the finest delicatessens and tearooms and the most renowned hotels.

Mariage Frères continues to spread the French Art of Tea throughout the world today with its many shops and Tea Rooms. Each house is rich with a collection of more than 1000 teas, blending original compositions with grand cru teas, the fruit of continuous and masterful work. In favouring quality over quantity, each harvest is cultivated with the greatest respect for nature and mankind and negotiated directly with the planter for a fair price. Many teas are conceived and “made to measure“ exclusively for the Maison. Almost all of the teas on offer now have the Jardin Premier label, a guarantee of the purest quality teas.
