    Style Notes

Each Bogolan cloth is made from local cotton and is entirely unique. Hand-spun into thin strips, these are then stitched together by artisans to make a whole cloth. The cloth is immersed in natural indigo dyes to create varying shades of blue.

Bogolan fabric is a traditional handmade West African cotton textile, dyed with fermented river mud and indigo. Its name comes from the Bambara People of Mali, whose words 'bogo’ (meaning mud) and 'lan’ (meaning with/by means of) provide the name. They are also referred to as mud cloths. Highly symbolic, Bogolan represents Malian cultural identity and is widely used in fashion and interiors.

The cloth's wear and markings add to its unique charm and character. Drape it over the arm of a chair or the back of a sofa.
