This oversized natural basket is perfect for chic and practical home storage.
It has been hand-woven from milulu grass is a strong reed that grows naturally in tropical wetlands and is woven into baskets using a traditional weaving technique in the village of Iringa, Tanzania.
The handles are made from locally sourced leather which has been vegetable tanned - a process that uses organic materials and natural tannins derived from the bark, leaves and branches of trees and plants. They are sturdy and durable, making it easy to move and carry the basket.
Each Mifuko product is unique and carries the name of its maker. As this basket is handmade the size and shape may vary.
When the product is first woven, the grass is greenish in colour. The colour changes to a light natural colour within 1-2 months. Products made of milulu grass do not tolerate soaking but can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not scrub the surface, machine wash, spin dry or tumble dry. Allow to air dry to avoid deformation.
